Staff Profile

  • Miss Becky MeakinNursery Manager

I joined Wolstanton Kindergarten in 2010 after completing my NVQ3 and have since had the opportunity to work with all age ranges within the nursery. In 2013 I was promoted to the role of Nursery Manager and since then I have endeavoured to create a happy and stimulating environment for all children so that they experience a home from home ethos. My aim is to ensure that parents feel confident and happy when leaving their children in our care and that the children are at the heart of all that we do.

I am proud to lead the team at Wolstanton Kindergarten and feel that as practitioners we have a strong understanding that all children are equal and have the right to be treated as individuals. This is clear to see throughout our planned activities and is visible throughout daily routines.

As a nursery we strive to be the best practitioners that we can be by continually developing our own professional development. I have recently completed a BA Hons in Education which has given me a broader understanding of the pedagogy necessary within early years to ensure that all children make maximum progress towards their developmental milestones. My aim is to ensure that the children, within our setting, feel happy and loved which is what I feel we, as a team, are exceptional at. During my spare time I enjoy cooking and spending quality time with my niece.

  • Miss Jayne GregoryDeputy Manager

My name is Jayne and I have worked at Wolstanton Kindergarten since 2010. I love my job as much today as the day I first started in this role in 2010. I have had the pleasure of working with all age ranges whilst I have been at the nursery, adapting activities and routines to suit the needs of each individual child. In addition to my key worker role I am also the Safeguarding Officer, Equalities Named Co-Ordinator (ENCO) and Health and Safety Officer.

I am a kind natured person, who has a lot of patience. I enjoy helping others however I can and this gives me lots of pleasure particularly when I can see that my help has improved the quality of someone else’s life. Within my spare time I love to socialise with my family and friends. I also enjoy physical exercise especially running.

  • Miss Lindsay CottonNursery Practitioner

I have been a part of the Wolstanton Kindergarten team since 2004. Having previously spent many years as the baby room key worker and now in my role as key worker in the tweenies room I have an in depth knowledge of how the youngest children learn and develop. I have a strong interest towards arts and crafts and this is implemented through my bright and stimulating displays and daily creative activities, supporting every child’s individual development. One of my main interests is the natural world; this is reflected through my planning where I love to make use of the outdoor environment in order to stimulate the children’s interests towards nature and the environment.

I am a proud mum to my beautiful son and I love to watch him grow and develop. During my spare time, I enjoy attending exercise class and going for walks. The time I have spent at Wolstanton Kindergarten has been thoroughly enjoyable and I hope I have many more happy years to come.

  • Mrs Amanda GregoryNursery Cook

I am the full-time cook at Wolstanton Kindergarten and I love to create exciting and nutritious dishes that the children enjoy. I enjoy adapting the menus to reflect the children’s likes and dislikes whilst also ensuring they receive a balanced and healthy diet over the course of the week. I take great pleasure from creating these meals from fresh, local ingredients and I feel particularly satisfied on the return of empty plates!

The nursery is a lovely place to work and the welcome I receive from the children is a joy, I feel blessed to be a part of their day. Within my spare time, I thoroughly enjoy using my cooking knowledge to create homemade cakes and treats along with going on adventures in my motor home with my husband and our dog.

  • Mrs Emma HigginsNursery Practitioner

I have a family of my own, with 3 beautiful children. Watching my own children flourish enhanced my decision to work with children within a nursery setting. I currently work part time at the nursery and although I love to work with all children my passion is working with the babies and younger children assisting with their care needs and ensuring that they feel safe and secure in the nursery environment. I love to see the continued development of the children within our care, feeling a sense of pride when the children have achieved developmental targets. I feel that I implement a warm, ‘homely’ and stimulating environment for each of the children who attend Wolstanton Kindergarten.

  • Laura SollomNursery Practitioner

I joined Wolstanton Kindergarten in 2014 as a volunteer, however soon after I was lucky enough to be offered a full time position as a key worker. My ambition was always to work with young children and I was thrilled to have fulfilled my dream.

Since taking on this role, I have continued to improve professionally, having the opportunity to attend courses to better aid my knowledge of children’s development and to improve my own practice. I am the Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCO) and I am constantly attending courses specific to my role in order to keep me up to date with relevant legislation and updates within the special needs sector.

In my spare time I enjoy going on country walks where I am able to practise my photography skills. I enjoy keeping fit mostly through running and I also regularly attend a yoga class. I also like to read and draw during my spare time and my love of these areas is often reflected in the activities I carry out with the children.
